One of my all time favorite paintings. I have this hanging in my master bathroom in the largest size and over the years I just love it more and more every time I look at it. Painted by Jacques-Louis David in 1793, it is one of the most famous paintings of the French Revolution. Marat, a revolutionary leader who spent most of his time in the tub due to a skin disease, was murdered by Charlotte Corday, a monarchist. David turned Marat into a martyr and hero painting the scene as he imagined it as Marat died, holding a pass to let Corday in to see him.
